I don't often give a 5 star rating unless places, people, restaurants are exceptional, and we were very impressed with the Souk, lots of choice for all palates, just ensure you go there hungry and you will enjoy the tastes, smells and the abundance of choice to satisfy anyone's taste buds. Iraqi restaurant, Syrian restaurant, Yemeni restaurant so much food and it was just beautiful, I would return to Doha just to eat at the wonderful restaurants, service was excellent as well. Only one restaurant we were disappointed with the food. It's a lovely place to visit and well worth your time.
Souq Waqif is a a place of wonder and pleasure for locals and visitors alike. Here one will find many items used in Qatari life as well as restaurants serving regional cuisine amongst a substantial amount of tourist driven souvenirs. There are a great many artisans who have their work on display in the Art Centre as well as some of the finest gold jewellery one may ever lay one’s eyes on. It’s truly magical and the outdoor air-conditioned walk ways make for a pleasant experience in the heat after 16:00. It’s quite easy to spend 4-6 hours here but essential to note several things here. First and foremost, have respect for everyone. Those selling here are trying to make a living; it’s their job to show you things to make money. Be polite! Second, take your time. While it might seem overwhelming to some each shop has some hidden gems that might not be seen if you’d glanced over too quickly. Third, if you do not understand what an item is by all means please ask and they can explain it to you. Be respectful of the culture and its various components. Lastly, please dress appropriately as comply with local standards. If you are in doubt of what you have on is culturally appropriate, it likely is not. You are in the world of Qatari people and respect to local standards of conduct and dress is expected.
This place is amazing for shopping and photos, but some small vendors don’t take cards. Also, if you go during the day, it can be really hot, better to visit after sunset. So many interesting stalls and the architecture is gorgeous. Everyone was friendly, and we didn’t feel pressured to buy anything. Great place for gifts. Otherwise, a great place to explore and eat!
A traditional but clean market with all the amenities of the modern world. Cobblestone streets, buildings with traditional architecture, restaurants, cafes and dozens of shops selling souvenirs, traditional clothes, spices, handicrafts, perfumes. In the market, small producers selling sweets, food and homemade juices.
A special section is the bird market, where there are dozens of types of colorful birds.
An interesting place, a must-visit! Crowded, in the evening.
Really nice place! Doha old town has amazing vibe. People are extremely kind, there are a few restaurants and bars. You can really experience the Qatar culture! A lot of small shops to buy souvenirs, clothes, food, drinks and other things.
